Bermuda Couchgrass is one of the most important and widely adapted of the warm season turfgrasses. Most of the seeded couchgrasses available today originated in Eastern Africa where they adapted well to the dry arid harsh conditions.
Couchgrass seed is available in two forms, hulled and unhulled. With the
hulled whilst more expensive will germinate at a faster rate than unhulled.
Popular with turf managers is the combination of both hulled and unhulled
which provides sustained germination in varying conditions.
The optimum growing temperatures for seeded couchgrass is 24 Deg - 35 Deg.
It provides excellent drought & heat tolerance and can be readily overgrown
with ryegrass, fine fescue or poa trivialis in the cooler southern states of
Australia during winter. Close mowing of couch will provide a fine textured
surface that is both asthetically pleasing and extremely hardy.
Much of our seed couch is coated, enhancing moisture retention around the
young emerging seedling and the special colour coating helps with ease of
application
