Meet Sharon, Eddie & Winnie
In May 2024 Eddie & Sharon Welsh purchased Gidge Rural and hit the ground running with the introduction of new stock items and displays. From fencing supplies, pipe fittings, general hardware, sands and soils to livestock feeds and accessories, pet supplies and feathered friends food we’ve got you covered. We pride ourselves in supporting the local community so feel free to come in for a chat and to check out our range of products.
In keeping with the Gidge Rural tradition, Winnie (the wonder dog) is hard at work instore ensuring that the human’s continue to offer the best possible customer service.
We now offer Home Delivery for all store supplies especially sands and soils and stockfeed. Looking to the future our outdoor garden centre will be ever expanding along with our doggy café and dog wash services.
Ailsa
I grew up in and around the Perth Hills but was born in Kalgoorlie. Mother of three and now a proud Grandmother my family has always been my main focus. Over the years I have had many roles professionally and have been a member of the Gidge Rural team for over two years. I have been involved in the equine community for many years particularly eventing and love nothing better than helping customers with their equine
needs.
Brad
Born in Busselton. Lived in the Perth Hills for the past 45 years. Owned and operated Hills Fresh for 17 years and now enjoying my time working with Eddie & Sharon at Gidge Rural.
Eddie
Born in Liverpool and grew up in the Swan Valley. I am a Trainer and Assessor by trade. I have been heavily involved in the Mining & Earthworks Industries for years but have worn many hats from a mechanical trade to running a car carrier business to even an all-rounder operator on the mines.
Helen
Born in Edinburgh I moved to Perth with the family at age four. Converted myself from a city slicker to a country bumpkin through my love of horses and have lived in and around the Perth hills for over thirty years where with my husband we have the property full of our fur and feathered babies large and small. I have worn a few different hats in my time however the focus for the last eleven plus years has been Gidge Rural where I get real enjoyment from helping people and love nothing better than to see customers coming in with an idea and sending them on their way with the goods to make that idea come to fruition.
Odette
Pemberton was home for me until I moved to Perth in 2000 and have lived in the Swan Valley ever since. This is my first job in a rural store after many years working in the hospitality and transport industry & I am really enjoying my new role. I love to read and garden and enjoy talking to customers about their gardening needs.
Rob
Raised in Esperance and moved to the Perth Hills at a young age where I attended Gidge Primary School. I had a dream of becoming a mechanic, so I became one. Married to my lovely wife with three kids and five horses life is extremely busy and even more so now with my new role at Gidge Rural. I enjoy gardening and love being outside and really enjoy doing the deliveries for the shop and meeting new people.
Sharon
Born in Wyalkatchem and grew up in the Wheatbelt. I have lived in and around the Perth hills for twenty years, heavily involved in the equine industry and was a vet nurse for three and a half years which led me to my love of animals and my current fur puppies Hannah, Buddy, Winnie and Rubin (His Lordship) the warmblood.
Taylah
Just the owner’s daughter & owner of Winnie. Also, Perth’s best loader operator 😊
