Lawn Conditioner
The recommended rate for lawns is 500 grams per sqm, which has measurable beneficial results that are improved by adding it with mature compost.
The more Mineral Magic you add, the more water and nutrients are held in the soil, choose to add between 500 gms to 10 kgs per sqm. If your garden area is 80 sqm, two 20 kg bags would permanently treat it at the lowest rate.

- New lawns, prior to planting, seeding or turfing spread 500 gms per square metre and hoe it into the top 10 cm. Adding a 30cm layer of organic soil conditioner and hoeing both in will have even better results.
- Existing lawns, add a total of 500 gms per square meter in multiple applications. For example, 250 grams per square meter added twice, a few weeks apart. Mineral Magic can be mixed with other mediums such as coir or organic soil conditioner and added after coring the lawn area. Common ratios are between 10% to 40% of the other medium.
What is the Lawn Conditioner?

How does it hold water?
Biogenic amorphous silica is composed of tiny fossilized radiolarian plankton that died over 125 million years ago. Its intricate honeycomb structure absorbs and releases plant available water and nutrients and is a permanent amendment.
Mineral Magic holds up to 60% of its weight in water and nutrient which is readily released to the root system reducing the demand on water and increasing the drought tolerance of your lawn. This ability to hold and utilise water and nutrient also greatly reduces the risk of nutrient leaching that leads to pollution of our native waterways.
Benefits of plant available silicon (PAS)
Mineral Magic releases PAS to plants, which plays a vital role in the health of lawns where leaves and their PAS content are removed during mowing. PAS greatly improves cellular strength while increasing the photosynthesis process, and reduces transpiration from leaves during hot weather.
The result is that your lawn is more tolerant to pest and disease attack, copes better with the rough and tumble of children and pets as well as using less water. The shape of the mineral chip also helps reduce soil compaction in areas of heavy foot traffic.
This product is climate change friendly increasing atmospheric greenhouse gas absorption and assisting the lawn to absorb and bind carbon into the soil.

The main advantages are that Mineral Magic is far more effective in small quantities, and it adds a higher percentage of plant available water without making the ground soggy, sticky or hard.

Commonly available clays such as kaolin work simply by reducing the rate of flow of water through sandy soil by plugging the gaps between particles of sand, and to achieve this, at least 10 kgs per sqm need to be added to be effective. The downside of this is that it also plugs the air holes, and can easily become compacted with foot traffic.
Mineral Magic is effective at raising the field capacity of water in soil, and nutrient storage with as little as 100 grams per sqm because of the very sturdy internal honeycomb structure.
